Is pelvic physio the same as regular physio? This is a question we hear often. While both are Physiotherapists, the training and treatment methods differ significantly.

General Physiotherapy focuses on the musculoskeletal system—treating knees, shoulders, backs, and sports injuries. They look at movement patterns, joints, and external muscles.
Pelvic Physiotherapy is a specialized discipline. These therapists have undergone additional, rigorous training to perform internal assessments (vaginal and/or rectal) to directly evaluate the pelvic floor muscles.
Why Does This Matter? You wouldn't see a dentist for an eye exam. Similarly, if you are experiencing bladder leakage, prolapse, or pelvic pain, a general assessment might miss the internal muscle dysfunction causing the problem.
At Milton Physio Plus, our team includes both expert General Physiotherapists and specialized Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, ensuring you get the exact expert you need for your specific condition.
